What is Blistering?
Tired of blistering bubbles appearing on your painted interior surface? Moisture build-up from recent storms or water damage can cause blistering paint that leaves bubbles on most painted surfaces, especially when careful preparation is not taken beforehand.
Blistering can occur when the wrong type of paint is used, such as when outdoor paints are used indoors. This can often result with loss of adhesion to a particular surface. In order to prepare the surface beforehand, and to prevent blistering in the first place, certain steps can be taken to result properly painted surface.
A Few Simple Steps…
Make sure the surface is not damp and free from moisture. Painting in a location that is ventilated is key. Furthermore, primer must always be laid down before painting over a surface, to ensure that the primer seeps through first, not the paint; thus preventing the prospect of blistering.
However, if blistering has occurred due to unforeseen issues, often the source of moisture must be removed. The surface paint must be scraped off, sanded down, and primer placed down first, and afterwards painted over with an acrylic-based paint.
