Every day of our lives we talk to strangers on…

Every day of our lives we talk to strangers on the phone or email and sometimes forget that these people are very special. They live a life just like you, have a family, friends and a life story that in some cases could be made into a movie or a good book. Often you work day in and day out with people that you never really “know”.
Well to change that we launched a series of articles called “Meet the Team”. Our company tries very hard to get to know all our customers and now we would like our customers to know and understand exactly who we are and what we do. To assist this process we share the stories of our team members. The people who make up Rochele Painting are the most important part of our business. Their stories deserve to be shared and enjoyed.
We would like to introduce Luke. If you have called our office and requested a quote chances are you might meet Luke as he is one of our super star estimators.
Luke was born in North Sydney and grew up in Lismore in northern NSW where he attended primary and secondary school. He has one younger brother who lives in Sydney.
Growing up in Lismore Luke spent most afternoons playing cricket and footy in the back yard and spending the weekend in Ballina with his grandparents, uncle and aunty where they would enjoy going fishing, kicking the footy and going to the beach.
Luke loved going to school. He had a great group of mates and every day there was something new. When he was just 15 years old he toured Argentina for three weeks playing cricket which he loved as he got to experience a new culture and play a hit of cricket as well.
Being quite the sportsman Luke played in the 1st XI and the 1st XIII in both cricket and rugby league where he made life long friends. Leaving school in 1999 he worked at a nursery for 6 months and then got a job at the sydney olympic games in the village where he worked on a coffee cart for both the olympics and paraolympics where he got to meet incredible people and experience a once in a life time event.
After all the excitement of the olympic games Luke got an apprenticeship back in Lismore where he started to work with Len & Julie Druhim (another family owned painting business) where he learnt his painting trade and met some great people who he is still friends with to this day. In his 20s Luke spent most weekends playing rugby league and rugby union.
Luke met his now wife, Alana, around six years ago while he was running a job at Kelvin Grove. As Luke puts it “I was living the dream working Monday to Friday and spending time with Alana during the week and then every weekend going home to Lismore and spending time with my mates”. Alana soon got sick of this and told Luke to find a job in Brisbane. She typed up a resume for Luke and applied for a supervisor role at Rochele Painting. Luke remembers “It was my very first interview and I still remember it. David’s first question was “what are you going to do when she dumps you” and my response was she won’t do any better than me”. We aren’t sure we agree with him on that one. He is definitely batting above his average. Luke has been with the company for over 5 years now and says he has made some life long friends both in the office and out of the office. Luke says “it is a great family business with great values and I look forward to many more years here”.
Alana and Luke are now married and have a fur baby called Lilly (Luke’s best mate). They are expecting their first child in mid September this year which is another exciting adventure for them and we wish them both the best of luck and cannot wait to meet the little guy!
