Acrylic vs Enamel Painting

by Ali |

When receiving your next quote from Rochele Painting you will notice that on the “Work Authorisation Form” a section has been added, giving customers a choice between using acrylic or enamel for doors, frames, windows and skirting. The reason for this is because there are two competing systems:

  1. the traditional oil based system (enamel) &
  2. the new water based system (acra-enamel).

The reason we are giving customers a choice is because both systems have their positives and negatives. This means that some people have a personal preference for either the traditional enamel or the new acrylic system.

Below are the pros and cons of both systems:

[wpsm_comparison_table id=”4″ class=””] In summary the choice is only applicable for “trims” (doors, windows, frames and skirting). From this point on there will be no price difference between the two systems. If you want a high gloss finish, with no brush marks; choose enamel. If you want a longer lasting product that is more environmentally friendly; choose acrylic. At present we have more requests for an enamel system but the industry is moving towards an acrylic system because of the benefits outlined above.
